Lotensin, Benace, Benazepril is in a family of drugs called ACE (angiotensin-converting enzyme) inhibitors. It works by preventing a chemical in your blood called angiotensin I from converting into a more potent form that increases salt and water retention in your body. Lotensin, Benace, Benazepril also enhances blood flow throughout your blood vessels.

What is a recommended dosage of Lotensin no Prescription?
ADULTS
For people not taking a diuretic drug, the usual starting dose is 10 mg, once a day. Regular total dosages range from 20 to 40 mg per day either taken in a single dose or divided into 2 equal doses. The maximum dose is 80 mg per day. Your doctor will closely monitor the effect of this drug and adjust it according to your individual needs.
For people already taking a diuretic, the diuretic should be stopped, if possible, 2 to 3 days before taking Lotensin, Benace, Benazepril. This reduces the possibility of fainting or light-headedness. If blood pressure cannot be controlled by Lotensin, Benace, Benazepril alone, then diuretic use should begin again. If the diuretic cannot be discontinued, the starting dosage of Lotensin, Benace, Benazepril should be 5 mg.
For people with reduced kidney function, the dosages should be individualized according to the amount of reduced function. The usual starting dose in these instances is 5 mg per day, adjusted upwards to a maximum of 40 mg per day.
CHILDREN 7 TO 16 YEARS OLD
The starting dose of Lotensin, Benace, Benazepril alone is 0.2 mg per 2.2 pounds of body weight, once daily.
The safety and effectiveness of Lotensin, Benace, Benazepril have not been established in children 6 years old and younger or children with kidney disease.
